Unleash Your Life Episode 2, Cold Showers

Woohoo! Let's get cold and wet!! Wait . . . what? That doesn't sound very exciting? Come along with us as we explore the life-transforming practice of getting uncomfortable!

Here are this episode’s Action Points:

Cold Showers — Yup, it’s time to get cold and wet! You can go full-on and just turn the water to freezing and step right in, or you can add 30 seconds of cold shower to the end of your regular shower.

Connect With “That Person” — We all know who this is. That person who you wronged, who you’ve neglected, who you want to connect with more deeply. This is the time to write them a letter, give them a call, or (best of all) ask them to meet face-to-face to connect.

Fast and Replace — Choose one thing in your life that is a “comfort”, but that you know you can live without. It might be the morning news, spending time on Reddit, playing video games, beer, or whatever. For one day, “fast” from that thing, and replace it with something else. The morning news might be replaced with checking out a “good news network”. Time online might be replaced with a family walk. The beer might be replaced by a glass of green tea. Afterwards, compare and contrast how the usual thing makes you feel, and how you felt after replacing it with something new.

  1. I’ve been doing Wim Hoff regimens for awhile and have been taking cold showers for a while{a few years} and feel invigorated by them.

    1. We’re practitioners of the Wim Hof method as well! Those cold showers are pretty invigorating, aren’t they?

      =) Kenton

  2. I baby-stepped my way into turning off the warm water at the end of my morning shower over the past 6 months. I still take a warm shower, then go full cold water at the end for about two to three minutes, and it does feel great. Haven’t tried the Wim Hof breathing, but just breathe slow and deep through the cold.
    Along with the touted health benefits, I use it as a form of mental discipline. I set the goal of cold water, and when I step out of the shower, I have accomplished a goal to start the day.
    Incidentally, the first two videos I watched on your channel were Rebecca taking a cold shower and Kenton laying in the snow and Rebecca shoveling more snow on him

    1. Rob, this brought such a smile tonight! Way to go on those cold showers, my friend! And thank you again for the gift — it brings us joy every single day!!!

      Love,
      Kenton =)

      P.S. It was really fun to hear that those were your first two videos of ours!! =)

  3. Love your work; hate your cold showers! (OK, I do sometimes take them….) I enjoyed the broadcast though I must say personally I prefer the videos because you’re not disembodied voices! and because the forest backdrop is lovely and the kids and Djembe and chickens and deer wander in!

    1. Cathy, we’re glad you like the podcasts, but totally understand about the videos — it’s always nice to see facial expressions, body language, smiles . . . and as you say, it’s always a joy when the girls or other creatures come and take part!

      Love to you =)

  4. Hi guys! Great to see you guys rolling!
    Some technicalities πŸ™‚
    Have you looked into how you could grt into other podcasting platforms? It could be great if you could get integrated into spotify / podcastaddict apps for example!
    I, and many others (new ones Im sure) could be informed there too! Im not sjre how it eorks but I think it eould be grrat!

    Also Kenton, check out the band “Paleowolf”, they play stone age ambient ritualistic stuff, I think you would dig it for meditations or just for fun haha! It’s very raw, it’s pretty much that long clawlike nail in the footprint πŸ™‚
    Looking forward your podcast! (Hrrr cold showers haha! Elemental!)

    1. Laszlo, thank you for this! I will be checking into both of those and finding out how to get into them! That’s so appreciated =) And I’ll also check out ‘Paleowolf”! Sounds really awesome!

      With much love,
      Kenton =)

  5. Hey Kenton, sweet!
    And I can confirm that it can be played as well! Really cool episode, your dynamics with Rebecca works and comes through very nicely in this podcast format. I enjoy your theatrical intros too haha!
    I liked the reminder of the ever narrowing comfort circle bubble, that can slowly strangle you if you dont watch out.. developing an acrive mindfullness for this is a new goal of mine.

    All the best!

    1. Laszlo, I was hoping you’d see if it worked! Woohooo! Thank you! And thanks for that feedback as well. That was so helpful to hear!

      Love,
      Kenton =)
