UYL Season 2, Episode 19, Finding Security in Uncertain Times

Life can be uncertain. It's not just things like aliens and covid, but the everyday shifts in our lives that can be unsettling. In this episode, we consider ways that we can transform our relationship with uncertainty, and even embrace it!

Here are this episodes’ Action Points:

Practice Giving– Giving is a way to start transforming our mind from a hoarding mentality to a sharing mentality. You can volunteer, tithe, or bake a loaf of bread for your neighbor. There are many ways to give!!

Take Up Gratitude– Start a morning or evening gratitude practice. Take a set amount of time (even just two minutes), and write out what you’re grateful for that day (or from the previous day if you’ve chosen a morning practice).

Cultivate Mindfulness– You can build mindfulness through a simple mindfulness meditation, starting at just 5 minutes a day!

Surrender (to Lila) and Play With Life– Developing a playful mindset is life-changing!!! To do this, we have to learn to respond to life rather than react. And when we respond, to respond with curiosity and a sense of adventure.

  1. Love it when you two start off on the deep end and then pull it back haha! I remember an episode of the x-files where aliens were exploring Earth but using drones, in this case it was in the form of cockroaches that were powered by methane gas. Neat concept because that’s exactly how we’d explore an alien planet. This level of awareness takes a while to cultivate I think, definitely doesn’t happen overnight but I love the action points. I have been finding that leaning on gratitude helps put my mind on the right path to really taking things less seriously and enjoying the moment. I’m not always in a compassionate mood but looking at things I’m grateful for makes it easier to find my compassion.
